We have to excite and enthuse people about the environment if we want their support to protect and manage it.

As a countryside warden, I led events on a weekly basis to people of all ages, including general guided walks, themed walks, and school visits (including immersive ’earth education’ activities). I continued to deliver similar activities at Red Rose Forest, including leading training events for greenspace professionals. I have given talks and lectures at many levels, and organised and led workshops and conferences.

I am comfortable writing for all audiences, including leaflets and displays, website content, press releases, technical reports and executive summaries. I have also appeared on television and radio, and am a regular user of social media to promote projects and develop partnerships.

  • I have delivered lectures for various universities, on topics including The Role of the Ranger, Green Infrastructure and Tourism, andCareers in the Environment.
  • Through the Greater Manchester Forest Network, I led sessions for greenspace professionals on planning and running Wild Food walks for the public.
  • I designed and delivered a lesson to introduce Y6 (10-11y.o.) to the concept of Green Infrastructure, using aerial photography and GIS maps to explore the area around their school.
