As well as the inspirational and technical stuff, a successful project needs some basic skills applying to make it happen successfully…

Fundraising – I have written and collaborated on funding bids of various kinds and scales, to considerable success, and produced claims and reports for funders.

GIS – I have used GIS for many purposes, and have a good idea of what it’s good for – and what it isn’t.  I can offer advice on how GIS can support any kind of project (not just environmental work) and am proficient enough to offer a comprehensive data design and capture service. So if you have paper-map data you want digitised, want to see how you could map data from spreadsheets or databases, or are just beginning to think about using spatial data, I can help you design and deliver a practical, real-world solution that will be easy for your staff and customers to use.

Spreadsheet, database and system design – With a good working knowledge of Excel and Access, and enough experience to know what systems are really going to be used and maintained, I can help structure the management of information to make reporting and project management easier.

Copy editing and proof-reading –  I have lots of experience of writing and copy-editing for different audiences, including technical reports, executive summaries, press releases, leaflets and web copy. I also have a good eye for grammar, layout, spelling and typos.
